Dear Club President,
As you know our district conference is coming up next month. I view the conference as a celebration of the accomplishments of all of the clubs in district 7300. As such I’m putting together a power point showing some of the activities that the clubs participated in this past year.
Would you please provide me with photos, via e-mail, of your club’s projects, fundraisers and fellowship gatherings. I can’t guarantee that all of them will be used, but I will use as many as I can. Anything that you
can provide would be appreciated.

DISTRICT CONFERENCE UPDATE
May 15, 16 & 17, 2008
Dear District Rotarians,
The final day to receive The Bedford Springs Resort discount of $160.00 per room per night is Tuesday, April 15, 2008. To receive the discounted room rate it is imperative that you register directly with the Bedford Springs Resort. The District Conference Committee has no control over the date. Any reservations received by Bedford Springs after April 15 will not receive the discount room rate. Please be aware that any room reservation is subject to the Pennsylvania Sales Tax rate of 8% and a daily resort fee of $15.00.
Should it be necessary to cancel your reservation, contact Bedford Springs Resort reservations and obtain a cancellation number. Cancellations may be made up until 6:00p.m.m, 3 days prior to scheduled arrival date. Cancellations after this time on non-arrival will forfeit one day of room rate plus tax.

I know how busy Rotarians are and I wanted to give everyone plenty of time to do some long range planning. Now you’re probably wondering what the heck am I talking about. I’m talking about the District conference. Not Governor Bob’s conference to be held at Seven Springs in early May of ‘07, although you want to make sure you have that on your calendar because I know the committee has a great conference planned.
But I’m really looking out into the future for my conference to be held May 16,17, and 18, 2008, at The Bedford Springs Resort in Bedford, PA. Many of our fellow Rotarians in the District that have been around for a while had mentioned that there were many District 7300 conferences held there years ago when the hotel was still in its heyday. Well we’re going back and we’re going back in grand style.
A couple of years ago, Bedford Springs Resort was purchased by Benchmark Hospitality International. They’ve launched a $90 million restoration — not renovation, but restoration of the property. I visited there this past summer with my conference chair Jay Jay Manuel to see how the restoration is coming. What they are doing to this property is nothing short of awesome. It’s being totally restored to its original grandeur of 200 years ago, with all of the amenities of today.
Come and stay where seven past U. S. presidents have stayed. Visit the 30,000 square foot spa. Golf on the completely restored Donald Ross golf course, fish one of the world class trout streams, take a historical tour, or bike or hike on the miles of trails on this 2,200 acre site.
Bedford Springs Resort is located just a 90-minute drive east of Pittsburgh. They are scheduled to reopen in the spring of 2007, so by the time 2008 rolls around they should have everything running smoothly. When they finish, this will truly be a world-class four- or five-star resort. Even better news is that we have negotiated some extremely favorable rates.
So please put these dates on your 2008 calendar. Come up and stay a week and make it a family vacation. There will be more to follow next year about this great location. Word has it that Bob Brindley may even emcee some of the events.

Group rates: The group rate is $160 per room per night. THese rates are for single or double occupancy, subject to the Pennsylvaia tax of 8% and a daily resort fee of $15. The group room block is for the nights of May 15, 16, 17, 2008, and the group rate will be offered 2 days before and 2 days after based upon availability, until the cut-off date. Reservations are on a first come, first serve basis and Must be made by the Cut-Off Date of April 15th, 2008. THe special group rate will not be available after this date. WHen making your reservation, we suggest that you guarantee your room with a major credit card.
